How it all started

Julien is the French illustrator behind BOUDOIR BOBO.

Parallel to his career as interior and store designer, a deep need to return to drawing came up:

« In 2018 I found my way back to an old passion that seemed too long forgotten. This situation of being at the drawing table, to start a new illustration, is something very introspective after all. The scary freedom of the blank page. What to draw? Why one motive and not another? What do I want to tell?… »

Illustrating prints is something intuitive. I just got started and led me to the desire to draw what today is becoming fragile, sometimes even disappearing. Our nature and its endangered species. As if to awaken in me more awareness, more responsability. Maybe also to immortalize these beauties, get closer to them and observe with more awareness all this splendour that nature offers us.

In the case of creating patterns, it is more a reflection related to the decoration, the inspirations taken from encounters, travels or visits to each other's homes. With my patterns I let all impressions flow in which come from nature, environment and from my journeys. I get inspired by different cultures and aesthetic currents throughout history.

So here I am, drawing, as a new path. Like being in front of an old friend who's opening its arms because it's been too long since you've seen him. And I let myself swing, float... and above all, experiment…

So now it’s your turn .. and don’t think twice it’s alright !

With love, Julien.
